You just need to use the appropriate tar command line options. The tar command will work happily with both types of file, so it doesn't matter which compression method was used - and it should be available everywhere you have a Bash shell. I had to change the forward slash to a backslash and then it worked for me. You may find it easier to cd /path/tar first, then you can drop the -C /path/tar from the untar command, and the /path/tar/ in the loop. bz2 extension suffix indicates that the archive has been compressed, using either the gzip or bzip2 compression algorithm. tar.gz is used to signify this, however tar will fail if something is not right. Someone somewhere is probably still using tar with tape. Forty years later we are still using the tar command to extract tar files on to our hard drives. Tar files date all the way back to 1979 when the tar command was created to allow system administrators to archive files onto tape. tar portion of the file extension stands for tape archive, and is the reason that both of these file types are called tar files. In most cases, you can use the short module name unarchive even without specifying the collections keyword. tar extension is uncompressed, but those will be very rare. Ryder is a 10-year-old boy and the leader of the PAW Patrol.Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie is out in theaters everywhere on September 29, 2023.Characters PAW Patrol members Original members And guess what? A lot of kids care about what happens to Skye. We have to care about the characters first. And that’s because - and it pains me to say this - Paw Patrol remembered the one thing so many superhero movies forget. And the thing is, unlike the last Ant-Man or the vast majority of Secret Invasion, the superheroic world-building of Paw Patrol: The Might Movie is totally comprehensible. Make no mistake, Paw Patrol is trying to create a Marvel-style movie for very small moviegoers. Doesn’t all this unnatural power cause more problems than it solves? At one point, a beloved member of the Paw Patrol essentially miscalculates and allows Mayor Humdinger to become the Thanos of the Paw franchise. Believing in yourself is all well and good, but just like the classic moment in Superman II when Clark gives up his powers, the events of Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie throws some shade at the existence of superpowers in the first place. (The merchandising in our universe is another story.)įinally, with regard to one of the newer villains, The Mighty Movie could scan as a cautionary tale about not living your life for the clicks and the likes. Yes, one of the pups goes rogue in this movie, but the moral center of Paw Patrol - at least within its own universe - isn’t confusing. There are no fatalities in The Mighty Movie, and the messaging is all positive. And again, from the point of view of many parents, it’s also a safe kids’ movie in which you’re not worrying about answering any complicated questions. And yet, in the broad strokes, for countless preschoolers, Kindergartners, and some 1st graders, this movie is awesome. In other words, if you thought the Paw Patrol was tragically uncool before, transforming the pups into superheroes only makes them dopier. But, once they’re dashing around like the Avengers, it’s almost like Paw Patrol loses whatever previously weird edge it once possessed. Within the Paw Patrol universe, superpowers actually feel more realistic than the general status quo if David Cronenberg were directing a live-action version of the Paw Patrol, Chase’s ability to speak and operate drones that spy on people would be chilling. These dogs - which could already talk and operate heavy machinery - are now imbued with more traditional superpowers like flight, strength, and magical manipulation of water. Nobody uses the word “mutate” to describe what happens to the pups when they interact with the crystals, but that’s essentially what happens. Skye (the pup who likes flying) gets a new origin story, while all the other members of the Paw Patrol encounter some crystals from space that transform them into “the Mighty Pups.” If the basic set-up of Paw Patrol before now was a much less cool version of Voltron, in which none of these cartoon dogs had superpowers, and their vehicles never merged - then The Mighty Movie turns them into the X-Men. In some ways, The Mighty Movie is a quasi-reboot. If you’re somehow unaware of the internal canon of Paw Patrol, don’t bother trying to figure it out now. Yes, the lazy writing of Paw Patrol, in general, will set most parents’ teeth on edge, but what’s fascinating about the latest theatrical release - Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie - is that it’s essentially their version of Avengers: Endgame, though, it is much more comprehensible than the last several Marvel products.Ĭhase is on the case.to create a faux Marvel movie. In a world in which some kids’ feature films are very stressful, or, perhaps overly violent (like the excellent recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot), it is useful to have a movie in the theater that you can see with a Kindergartner and not worry. Even when people (shills?) like Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are paid to promote Paw Patrol, they end up making fun of it.īut here’s the thing. These types of stories are like the factory settings of all kids’ media which, results in a cloying genericness, that has led to a knee-jerk, and nearly universal, parental hatred of Paw Patrol. If you’ve seen one Paw Patrol, you’ve seen them all, even ones nobody has seen because I made them up. And because the series is brimming with every narrative cliché ever created, this makes bespoke Paw Patrol stories pretty easy to manufacture from an exhausted parent brain, with no Chat GPT required. Last year, my daughter got in the habit of asking me to create off-the-cuff Paw Patrol missions as occasional bedtime stories. Total is prior to taxes & shipping & after discounts are applied. What I see is they(The team) avoid showing of their programming prowess to the mass which will show how much of their capability of how they can implement more feature or provide deeper gameplay system. And seriously, they didn't build their own engine that will cut the time even shorter. Hence this is why those who familiar with Unity keep poking and asking why the team keep showing only the Asset part of the game. With Unity, it wouldn't take so long for Dev to start touching the core coding part (Not build mode, Live mode mind you). I wouldn't say Unity is bad, But it does really point things out clearly for those who are using it. Yeah I know about Unity and have played many Unity games + have seen many Devs working with it. Or use a different engine, instead of the one they are used to? Devs need quite a long time until they familiarized themselves with a new engine and a new programming language, and all its details and tricks. Originally posted by Krowle:They are using Unity? Yes, Paralives is using Unity, as well as Life By You, as well as a ton of awesome games.ĭo you think that every indie team should spend years of time and money to make their own engine? It will be another niche indy game that stand on its own. Just don't expect that it will come close to The Sims in term of immersive gameplay. It will get stuck to another Early access for a very long time to cope and rise more funding with optimizing issue. I don't think this is going to turn out well.Īs a friendly note, don't get your expectation on this game too high nor let alone coming out solid within another 8 years. With fired staff that complaining about team leading project issue I found info on Reddit. With Blender and Unity they're using I can very much guess that they are running very tight budget. Overall graphic will be very mediocre at launch date to compensate their chosen engine. With the scale of open world in mind, it will be very different from what most Ex-Sims player expecting. good luck on optimizing and updating that. By the time that the team realize that they need to scout or hire a talent with good improvise skill programming to layout the ground framework and get their game working, the money will already running dry before that happen. We don't see trailers for movies until they are nearing release.the same should apply here. Just don't advertise it until you have a much better understanding of a release date. bla bla bla bla bla.Fine! Take 20 freaking years to create the game you want to. Paralives WILL be buried by Life by You and The Sims 5. If you don't give us some kind of idea regarding a release. Steam may allow it but YOU are the problem here. The problem here, and I started my own thread on this, is that you announced it on Steam WAY WAY too soon. To give us an idea while making it clear that it could change. This is an effing cop-out! You say, we'd like to or we plan to release during such & such month but this is not set in stone and the release is dependent on various factors that could change the release but here is a general idea. There is a link on the page that will send you to a more thorough progress list.) (You can look up "The Full Paralives Development Roadmap" and it should be the first thing you see. You can check their progress here to get a better idea. It will be released in Early Access first with building, character creation and basic gameplay, and the devs will add pets and weather to it as time goes on until the final release, if I recall correctly. They have a release date in mind but are keeping it to themselves to prevent disappointment if it gets delayed, and prefer if people don't speculate on a date to prevent confusion and misinformation from spreading. In the Upper Coastal Plain, which covers the central and southwestern portions of the state, agriculture is the dominant activity. The Coastal Plain has two parts, the Upper Coastal Plain and the Lower Coastal Plain. Cities were created at these falls on major rivers as points for cargo transfer from riverboats and barges to trains and wagons. The fall line forms the geologic boundary between the Piedmont and Coastal Plain rivers flowing across this juncture produce waterfalls. The Atlantic Coastal Plain is south of the fall line, which extends across Georgia from Augusta on the Savannah River, at the South Carolina border to Milledgeville on the Oconee River to Macon on the Ocmulgee River to Columbus on the Chattahoochee River, at the Alabama border. Agriculture is still a significant economic activity, but animal products such as poultry, eggs, and beef are dominant. Most of Georgia’s cities are in the Piedmont, and the area is highly industrialized, with industries as diverse as carpet milling, aircraft and automobile manufacturing, and poultry processing. This area of mountain foothills once served as the primary area for growing cotton. The Piedmont is home to most of Georgia’s population. This area traditionally has been an area of mining-the first gold rush in the United States took place at Dahlonega in 1828-but today the Blue Ridge, with its mountain streams and cool summer breezes, serves primarily as a source of recreation. The highest points in the state, including Brasstown Bald (4,784 feet above sea level), are in the Blue Ridge. The Blue Ridge is the southern extent of the major mountain range of the Appalachians that extends into Georgia. It has historically been the source of mining activity with some farming in the valley floors. This province consists of numerous northeast-to-southwest-trending ridges with associated valleys. The Ridge and Valley extends northeast to southwest through the state, connecting portions of Georgia and Tennessee with eastern Alabama. Part of the Appalachian Plateau, including Lookout Mountain, is located in the extreme northwestern corner of Georgia.
